FORGOT YOUR DETAILS?

Man of Your Word

Even in a pandemic.....

Ever been smack dab in the middle of a “blah” week, or maybe even a “blah” season and boom, the Lord encourages you out of nowhere? Welp, it happened to me this week, and our amazing Abba Daddy decided to do so through song. “Man of Your Word” by Maverick City Music to be specific. I dare you to YouTube it as soon as you finish this reading. Sure, I’ve heard the song several times before, but this week it just hit different. You know how that goes. Music has always been such a great rescuer for me. I’m sure many of you could agree.

Covid-19 has stirred up so many emotions for the majority of us. I can’t tell you anything in particular is wrong, but what I can say is this season of many uncertainties has a way of testing your faith and your strength to stand on the promises of God. Let’s not even talk about the promises you’ve been standing on for yearssssss, prior to ‘Rona touching down, and all of a sudden you see person after person on your social media feed holding the very promise you’ve been believing for. That’s another blog for another day. As a believer, we celebrate others and will covet the crown of no one.

You know what the Lord just told me as I was writing? “You may be hidden, but that doesn’t mean you aren’t visible”. My Lord. Where are the “urshers” with the fan and the sheet? Sometimes being intentionally hidden by God is no fun at all. Not to mention being hidden and finding a way to balance your feelings while in the midst of a pandemic. Can I tell you it’s not always easy to receive a prophetic Word or whisper from God, and go through that ugly season of PROCESS before you can hold the promise? Two words that don’t sit well with my spirit many days---process and patience. It seems like the longer I wait, the louder my “what if’s” get. Whew. “God, is it really going to happen? Are you going to do what You said You’d do? What about the things I’ve been fasting, sowing, and praying for?” This brings me to the title of this blog. A few days ago, I chose to listen to the lyrics more closely of an amazing worship song. I had no idea God would use it to speak directly into my spirit for this current season. Take a look at a few of my favorite lines:

If You said it, we believe it

If You said it, we believe it

‘Cause You’re a man of Your word.

I know all things are possible

When we believe

And old chains are breakable

When we receive

Yahweh

You keep Your promises

We have this confidence

You’ll finish what You started

God, You have never failed

You won’t start with me

Listen to me. Those lyrics tore me all the way up. How easy it is for us to forget that God watches over His Word to perform it. Think about that for a moment. Back in my Corporate America days, there was ALWAYS a guard on duty, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. The guard was responsible for watching over the grounds and ensuring the safety of all employees. If and when he needed to step away for whatever reason, he had to page someone to tend to his duties until he returned. How comforting is it to know that God does His Word and promises over our lives just like that. Only with our God, He's on post at all times.

Last weekend I saw two beautiful women whom I follow on social media become wives. I’ve actually watched them both go from single, to courting, to engaged, to married within months, all right before my eyes and thousands of others. The enemy immediately wanted to me to question God’s promises for my life and why my season hasn’t changed. He wanted me to doubt the potency of God’s Word and His ability to do just what He said. He wanted me to doubt the success of my new business venture and how things will play out as there are so many parts to this new endeavor. He wanted me to sulk in my feelings, which aren’t educated by the way, and forfeit the promises of God. Ever felt like things were on hold or stalled for the moment? That’s where I’ve been the last few weeks. Truth is, things are moving and have been moving, they just haven’t been doing so at my pace. Chiiiiiilllllleeeeee!

Can I tell you the opposite of faith is not fear or doubt, but it’s control? Ouch. I’m one of those individuals who loves to control outcomes. That’s nearly impossible being in covenant with a God whom I gave my “yes” to. I’ve asked Him to order my steps, but what I was really saying is order my next blessing. Order the right man to come into me and my child’s life. Order this six or seven-figure income. Order my next children you know my heart greatly desires. But guess what? That which “seemed” stalled, is still moving. God can get me and you to our next season overnight if He wishes to. So, either we trust His sovereignty, or we don’t. Either we trust His plans, or we don’t. Either Jeremiah 29:11 is real, or it isn’t. Either all things are working together for my good, including this season, or it isn’t.

God, You have never failed

You won’t start with me.

I pray this encourages your heart today that God has never failed, and He isn’t about to start with you. May the peace of God which surpasses all understanding arrest you today and free you from any uncertainty, doubt, fear, and anxiety. Do not allow your mind to become a playing ground for the enemy. If you cast away your confidence and walk away from that which you’ve been standing on, the reward is not even possible to obtain. Sure, each of our faith gets shaky at times, but I choose to believe this pandemic doesn’t change the promise. In fact, His promise does not weaken overtime. Its potency stays the same until it’s fulfilled. I can assure you, 2020 is NOT cancelled. May you walk in the beauty of being anxious for nothing and no one. Get in the right posture and position to move at the pace of heaven. God is going to count the cost and do just what He said He’d do. Pinky promise.

Be encouraged.

Brittany…I was cleaning out my friends list and came across your page and thought. I haven’t seen anything from Brittany in a while and I am so glad I did. Thank you! this was on time and beautiful. So many beautiful confirmations about my life this week after ending a relationship that had some toxic ways on both ends. Just another confirmation that I made the right decision because it sure has been a question in my head.
